Water & Air Spray
Working with a red contra-angle produces a lot of aerosol. Sufficient cooling is important to avoid thermal damages to the tooth.
Avoiding aerosols by all means possible has become a major aim in the dental industry in the past months. Facing this new challenge has motivated us to develop a solution to create a safer environment for you, your team and your patients. Our goal with this new solution is to remove as many of your concerns regarding aerosols as possible so that you can focus on what matters most, treating your patients. What is more, for our solution, no new instruments have to be bought, it can be applied to your existing ones.
An easy comparison (below) clearly shows the outcome of our simple and effective solution: A clear difference in the spray mists. By blocking the spray air, the spray is more ringed, therefore, the risk of contaminated aerosol dispersion is reduced. When the treatment is performed properly, a sufficient cooling function with water is still provided (as required by ISO 14457:2017-10), thus ensuring that the teeth will not be damaged as a result of the cooling air no longer being accessible. Adjustment of working speed and pressure is highly recommended.

Spray air contributes significantly to spray mist in dental instruments. Blocking the spray air leads to more ringed spray mist, therefore reducing the risk of contaminated aerosol dispersion. Teeth will not be damaged without cooling air, as a sufficient cooling function by water is still given when proper treatment is performed.
Working with an air-driven turbine produces more aerosol than working with a red contra-angle.
Yes, no trained assistance is necessary.
Yes, very easily.
This solution is compatible with hoses of the following Dentsply Sirona Treatment Centers:
Dentsply Sirona Teneo
Dentsply Sirona Sinius
Dentsply Sirona Intego / Intego Pro
Dentsply Sirona C-Line
This solution is also applicable to air-driven turbines, however, treatment with an electric contra-angle is to be preferred at this point as contra-angles emit less aerosol than turbines.
No. The solution is only suitable and recommended for Dentsply Sirona Treatment Centers.
In general yes. Due to the ideally positioned spray holes in our instruments, this solution works best when used with Dentsply Sirona instruments. The application of this solution with instruments from third-party manufacturers is possible if sufficient cooling can be secured; the blocking of the spray air can have a smaller effect when applied to non Dentsply Sirona instruments.
No, since the solution is applied at the hose at the treatment center side.
We recommend to adapt treatments in terms of speed and pressure applied as well as visual inspections of the working area to ensure temperature control. Even though the air is blocked, sufficient cooling when working with Dentsply Sirona instruments is given. The application of this solution with instruments from third-party manufacturers is possible if sufficient cooling can be secured and has to be checked beforehand.
No. The spray of the ultrasonic handpieces is produced mechanically without air. The water jet meets the oscillating tip and thus aerosol is formed.
