Samtweiss Practice

With her dental practice Samtweiss, Dr. Marie-Isabelle Merensky appeals to all generations. Radiant white, deliberate color accents and simple, aesthetic lines convey a sense of calm and harmony. It is these first impressions that welcome patients to the Samtweiss practice in Geretsried, in Bavaria.

Dr. Merensky, what were the considerations behind the design concept of your practice?

Dr Merensky: I wanted to create a place where patients feel comfortable. The glass walls create an open feeling of space and offer patients room to breathe and relax. The colors are also deliberately chosen. Pure white represents professionalism. Gold stands for quality and luxury. These are exactly what I as a dentist would also like to offer my patients – excellent treatment with state-of-the-art technology that achieves the best possible result. My patients often confirm that they find the colors of the practice very appealing. That's why it was nice that I was able to choose a matching gold-bronze tone for the color of the upholstery on the Sinius and Teneo treatment centers.

How much of your personality has gone into the practice design?

In truth, my own story is reflected in the practice design. The symbol of the elephant - a mosaic of vivid turquoise tones that also incorporates the gold in the tusk - was specially created and has a very personal connection for me, as it is my favorite animal and my husband's family lives in South Africa. In the treatment rooms, my patients enjoy beautiful landscape and animal photos from South Africa. The photos were taken by my sister-in-law. Through the pictures you immediately get into a conversation with the patients that has nothing to do with the treatment and thus contributes to a relaxed atmosphere.

What constitutes trust in a practice for you?

For me, excellent treatment begins with attention to detail in design and equipment. We are a practice for the whole family and I take time for each patient and explain the treatment process. A personal relationship is already established through the initial contact with the practice via the website or social media channels like Instagram. The openness of the practice design and the soft lighting concept also contribute to a feeling of trust. Modern, digital technology allows me to connect with patients and build trust through direct interaction. It is also relaxing for me that the digital workflow with the intraoral camera integrated into the Sinius treatment unit, the intraoral scanner, and the Sidexis 4 software, facilitates the entire treatment process.
